While shopping for home improvement materials for remodeling a home, The Affordable Home founder Ryan, became disenfranchised with the mark-up on many of the products.

"I just couldn't believe that it cost near the amounts that were being charged," recollects Ryan.

Out of sheer curiosity he started to contact factories to get an idea of how much some of these things really cost.  Soon thereafter Ryan purchased some sinks and faucets and began selling them online.  Most of the products from the initial "test" order sold out quickly, and Ryan knew he had a viable business on his hands.

"It became obvious real quickly that there was a serious need to sell stylish, contemporary home improvement products at an affordable price," said Ryan.

Established in 2004, the business has grown from a small store where products were stored in a basement to a burgeoning business with fulfillment done by Amazon.com so that customer service could remain the focus of staff.

According to Ryan, "Not only does this allow us to provide world class fulfillment, but it also allows us to offer free shipping to our customers because we can pass on the savings from using Amazon's shipping rates."
